IVY

Maddox and I duck into the inn, racing up the stairs as quietly as we can. I don’t need the entire cast and crew up in my business, especially not now, when I’m supposed to be keeping a low profile.

I unlock the door to the Nutcracker Suite and we tumble into the dim room, white beams of moonlight streaming through the picture window. Maddox wastes no time, grabbing me by the hips and pulling me up against his strong body. His wet shirt clings to his chest, outlining the hard planes of his muscles. My breathing’s quick and shallow, from the run and from being this close to Maddox.

He smooths the rough pad of his thumb across my cheek. “You’re stunning.”

A warm glow spreads through me as a tingle builds between my thighs. I rest my hands on his chest, his heart thudding beneath my palm.

“You’re quite the catch yourself, Maddox.”

He grins, his white teeth glistening in the darkness. “I’m all right. Nothing compared to you.”

The way he gazes at me—like he’s never seen anyone more magnificent before—makes my pulse race so fast I’m faint.

I tip my head up, wrapping my hands around the back of his neck, pressing my lips to his. He kisses me with the perfect amount of pressure and passion, full leading man-style, and I almost feel like I’m on set.

But it’s so much better.

I’m tumbling, falling fast and hard, and it’s wonderful and terrifying all at once.

His hands cup my rear, rubbing slow circles on the wet fabric of my dress, droplets of water puddling on the wood floor. He drops lower, toying with the hem of my dress, and I nod, giving him consent.

His fingers inch my dress up, his palms warm on my now cool skin. Heady anticipation surges through me and wetness pools in my panties as he moves across my thigh.

I break away, spinning around so he can unzip my dress. Glancing over my shoulder, I lock eyes with him, his pupils wide and dark with desire. Wordlessly, he lowers the zipper and the wet garment falls to the floor. He reaches around, cupping my breasts with his large hands, my nipples peaking under his touch. I inhale, my breath hitching in my throat as I lean against him, his entire body taut and ready.

He drops his lips to my neck, kissing along the tender skin, sending a shiver of excitement down my spine. My skin’s flushed and I’m hot all over as his fingers roam my body—my chest, my stomach, up and down my arms.

In this moment, Maddox is totally in control and I surrender—to my feelings, my passion—allowing myself to float away with him and just be.

He unhooks my bra, flinging it to the floor, running his hand over the smooth skin of my breasts. Rolling my nipples into sharp points, his scent intoxicating, swirling around me.

“I want to see you,” I whisper into the darkness and Maddox backs up, unbuttoning his shirt and peeling it from his damp skin.
